Projects I work on usually involve conducting qualitative research. They sometimes also have a creative element, like using research insights to design a digital product or service, or to improve an existing one. I try to further equity and social justice through my work, both through a project’s outputs and the process to get there.
My research is participatory, feminist, and action-oriented. I am increasingly exploring storytelling and layering participatory methods in my approach to make my work more accessible and engaging.
Check out some of my past work below:
Algorithms & Power Asymmetries
Reflecting on social media algorithms, ad targeting, data, privilege and power in times of crisis, for Data & Society’s Parables of AI in/from the Majority World.
My piece in the anthology is Capitalising on Crisis & Hope: Emigration and Social Media Ad Targeting in Lebanon.

Mobile Money User Journeys
Understanding behaviour around mobile money in lower income communities in Jordan, for GIZ.
We used human-centered design methods to develop and prototype potential products for women and refugees.
I also authored the project report: Mobile Wallet User Journeys and Potential Products for Refugees and Women in Jordan.

Digital Identity Policy
Examining biometric identity and digital identity in Lebanon and developing policy recommendations.
This research was published by SMEX and funded by Privacy International. The Future of Biometrics and Digital ID in Lebanon: Assessing Proposed Systems for Elections and Social Assistance

Digital Risks Case Studies
Researching cybersecurity breaches and digital risks and developing case studies to strengthen civil society organisations.
These were published by the Solidarity Action Network, and commissioned by the Berlin-based International Civil Society Centre.

WhatsApp Chatbot Design
Designing, deploying, testing and iterating WhatsApp chatbots for the International Rescue Committee.
The chatbots shared employment rights information, mental health information, and early childhood development activities with Syrian refugees and host communities in Jordan and regionally.

Co-design, Localisation, & Usability Testing
Co-design and usability testing with internally displaced communities in Iraq, to localise a web platform.
This was for a tech non-profit enabling people to connect with missing loved ones through their mobile phone
